Table cards

We hung our custom made acrylic table cards on a manzanita tree.  We thought this would allow our guests to interact with each other and allow us to enjoy the hor d'oeuvres while they were busy looking for their names.

Wedding Invitation

If you have a tight budget then you may want to explore a video invitation.  It allows you to put your personal touches on your invitation and you can give your guests a laugh.

My husband and I went the video route because we both wanted to save some money, create something that was original, and show off our acting skills (or the lack of).

It took about three hours to film and a week to edit using Apple iMovie.  It's more work than paper invites but everyone will remember the video invite years later.

Here's our video...

Table displays

Most of the major displays at my wedding were custom made because what I wanted wasn't available.  If you're good with crafts and one to plan your wedding way in advance then making your own displays would be a fun project.  Don't be disheartened if it doesn't work out on your first try.  As most craft projects go, it takes practice before getting it just right!

For my centerpiece, I decided to go with a 4ft long plexiglass trough filled with a layer of tinted rocks, floating orchids and candles.   I searched online for a long clear trough but apparently this didn't exist! I decided to build my own trough by gluing sheets of acrylic together.

The table runner was also handmade. I picked out a silk fabric that had accents of chinese patterns, handed it to my mom and told her to get that sewing going!
